My days at AFE Finance & Accounting were getting longer and longer since I was now being assigned, my own clients. It was a little scary, and I didn't care to take on a particular project that was brought to my attention because I wasn't sure if I was 100% ready. As a forensic accountant, I had plenty of group work from fortune 500 and mid-sized companies. But my mentor and boss thought it was time for me to roll solo. After agreeing to audit Scargot & Co., I uncovered more bones than a graveyard. The end result of my first solo project was that I found an employee that had been stealing for years, and that snowball effect led to me saving Scargo & Co. millions of dollars.

To celebrate my win, I left work early with a plan to just have some fun. I'd been cooped up in the office for weeks and haven't had a chance to get out in a minute. Instead of wildin’ out with my boys, I decided to spend the day with Dillon.

Dillon still isn't in the loop on what Melynda and I have going on. We don't want to confuse him, nor do we want to feel pressured about giving this thing a title. We're having fun and have been doing so since that day in Annie's office. As for Dil, my only priority was to be sure he was good and focused. Keeping his head in the game to further progress in school, sports, and life. This wasn't just any project to me, Dillion was starting to grow on me. His relationship with me was completely separate from my relationship with Melynda. We would be okay no matter if Mel and I decided to sever ties or not.

I punched the gas to the floor, ignoring what Melynda once scolded me about. I had to pick Dill up by noon and pulled onto their street at 12:00 on the dot.

Got damn! Sundress season couldn't have gotten any hotter. Melynda's ass cheeks kept up with the standing ovation, clapping unabashedly. Thank God there were no other cars on the street because I would have probably crashed. If this is what it looks like to water flowers, I'd watch all day long.

I put on sunglasses as Dillon approached my car to hide from him what I was really viewing. It was the best show I've seen in a minute.

"What you looking at?" Dillon lowers his head, moving his head in the same direction I'd been eyeing. He freezes, realizing where my line of sight had been. "Nah, Tav! Not today." He pauses, "You don't even know where to stick your dick, quit playing with my mama." We went up in cahoots. Well, I hurled over laughing. Dillon wasn't too pleased.

"Let me tell your mama the bull crap you over here saying in my car. She ain't gone be pleased." I threaten him, at the same time pulling out of his driveway.

The three-story townhome disappears out of the rearview mirror when he advises me I stood no chance with Mel.
